Artist Statement

“My website is primarily for family and friends and other visual artists. My intent is not to sell my work (despite the enormous demand that I’m sure my work will generate).

My hope is that my art will encourage those of you who love creating visual art to do more. I’m not formally trained as I am assuming most of you out there are not. I’m not a golfer, sailor (despite years in the Navy) or a Bridge player. Fortunately, I make art to fill in this gap.

I’ve completed over 7,000 works, many of which hang on family walls, this without twisting arms. They seem to request more as nicks and cracks in their walls need covering. Many smiling portraits of family and friends adorn my own walls. They greet me each morning as I enjoy my coffee, boosting my ego.

My 11x14 visual journals were started in 1976. They allow me to enjoy events otherwise forgotten. They prevent my past and time from disappearing. To date, I have 90 journals weighing over 900 pounds. They remind me of the thousands of slides, hours of 16mm film - (most in black and white and silent of course) that my father created. Along with my brother and sister, we have scores of photo albums that my father also created, some dating back to the 1930s. These works of my father now sit in our attics and closets gathering dust.

I hope you enjoy these representatives of my collections as I have enjoyed them... before my daughters put them in their attics or use them as fire starters.”
